Three times this pregnancy I've had to chug 10 oz of fruit punch or orange flavored syrup. Not fun. The last gulp it always a gamble if I'm going to keep it down or throw it up. Yuck!
After my 28 week appointment I was told I needed to retake my glucose test. I passed it at my 24 week appointment, but sugar in my urine red flagged me. I was not looking forward to it, but assumed since I passed the first time, I could pass it again. WRONG! Epic fail. It might have had something to do with the dozen cookies and candy I ate the day before.
So, two days later I was told to do the 3-hour glucose test. That consisted of fasting for 12 hours, then getting my blood drawn 4 times. Luckily I have no issues with needles.
I passed it that time. But, my doctor told me I had to eat like I had gestational diabetes. That's harder than I thought. I'm a major sweets person... which lead me to 30 oz of syrup consumption. I haven't cut out all sweets, but I'm down to one cookie a day and by passing the ice cream. Only 7 weeks of having to watch my diet... then I'll roll into baby-weight-loss mode :)
On another note: We had another ultrasound at 31 weeks. At an office ultrasound, my fertility doctor found my placenta to be a little low. He wanted a follow-up to make sure it 'moved'. The 31 week US showed it was no longer low and the baby is measuring 2 days ahead. Everything still looks healthy and developing on track. We made sure we didn't find out gender again. After waiting this long, I didn't want to know that close to the end.
I'm also shot free!! Finally!!! In the first trimester I was giving myself two shots a day. One of progesterone and one of a blood thinner. Then it became 8 shots a week (blood thinner everyday and progesterone once a week). At 28 weeks I was off the blood thinner and only doing progesterone once a day. At 32 weeks I got to be done with the progesterone. I roughly calculated I've self-inflicted more than 250 shots during this pregnancy. Though it was a pain (literally), I'd do it all over again.
Only 7 weeks left. I'm getting uncomfortable but can see the end. I can't wait to hold Baby Mitchell in my arms. It'll make this journey so totally worth it.

More nephews!!
Not only are Michael and I expecting, so are my sister, Katie and Rob, and Michael's sister, Alison and Brandon. We are growing on both sides of the family!!!
Last Monday Katie found out they are having a boy! Baby Borcherding will join his big brother, Zeke, sometime around October 19th. She's exactly 9 weeks behind me. Makes it very easy to know how far along she is.
Last Tuesday Alison found out they are also having a boy! Baby Murphy will join big sisters, Shelby, Victoria, Chelsey, and Vanessa sometime around October 12th. She's 8 weeks behind me... also easy to remember how far along she is.
It's been fun comparing pregnancies. Both were sick through the first trimester. Both are getting small bellies compared to my much bigger belly. We talk about how our babies are moving, how our lives will change, how the siblings will handle the new baby. I'm beyond excited our baby will a cousin on both sides very close to his/her age.
Now that I know they are both having boys, I'm uber curious what we're having. Will all three be boys? Or will we march to our own beat and have a girl? Only 9 more weeks to wait!

Growing and Gaining!!
I have reached the 29 week point. So far I'm feeling great! Soooo much better than the first trimester when the couch was my nightly hangout. The second trimester was fine, but I'm excited to have made it to the third. The countdown is on!
It's been 6 1/2 years since I've been this far. I forgot how much by body changes during pregnancy. I look in the mirror and think "How can my belly expand any more?" Yet it does. It's funny to hear Kincaid tell me on a regular basis that the baby is getting bigger.
Baby Mitchell, or Baby Boo, is a mover and a shaker. He/she loves to push out my sides, or roll around while I'm laying in bed. Michael can't believe how big the movements are. Kincaid has felt kicks a few times. I tell him that's his sister or brother already picking on him. He laughs at that. I doubt he'll be laughing in a few years when it's for real. He loves to ask if the baby is kicking and rub my belly. He also loves to tell everyone we're having a baby on August 16th. He doesn't quite understand that babies come on their own schedule. I do hope the baby comes a week or more before he goes to school. I'd like time at home with both my kids.
I've gained 20 pounds so far. The last 7 pounds came in the last three weeks. Not sure what happened there. It wasn't from regular stops at McD's (I had a month of that during my pregnancy with Kincaid). I'm measuring two weeks big. I always measured small with Kincaid. I often wonder does this mean Boo will be bigger than Kincaid or is my old age making me stretch faster? My biggest fear is my labor and delivery won't be as easy as it was with Kincaid.
I had an ultrasound at 27 weeks. My placenta is a little low so I get to have another ultrasound at 31 weeks. Not complaining. I love seeing a visual of our baby. I hope to take Kincaid so he can have a little better understanding. He liked hearing the heartbeat so I'm sure he'll love seeing an actual picture.
Memorial weekend I painted the room. No more bug theme from Kincaid's nursery. This time I went dark gray. I have yet to add decor to the walls. Some will come after the baby's born so it can be gender specific. We still have a few more things to get lined up... carseat, stroller, diapers, clothes, etc.
We have a countdown on our fridge that Kincaid changes every Friday. It's fun to see the numbers get smaller and smaller. And Kincaid can accurately tell people exactly how many weeks 'til baby!

Mother's Day 2013
Last Day of School
Kincaid successfully completed Kindergarten!! I hope that time starts to slow down soon. I really don't want the next twelve years of school to go by so fast.
In August as Kincaid got on the bus, I was nervous how he'd like school. Would he like going all day? Would he like his teacher? Would he struggle with learning? Could he keep up with the other kids? I worried for nothing. He loved it!! He got along great with all his classmates, loved his teacher, excelled at reading and math, and adjusted to no nap just fine!
Everyday he'd bring home a new book from the library. It was our nightly routine to read before he went to bed. At the beginning of the year we were reading to him. By the end he was reading to us. It's amazing to sit on the couch as a family and listen to him. My heart beams with pride and joy!
Even though Kincaid eats like a grown man, he didn't do as much growing and gaining as I thought he would. He only grew an inch and gained three pounds. His attitude has changed a little. He picked up phrases that aren't regularly used at our house. He is standing up for himself when it comes to other kids. He is changing from a little boy into a kid.
Every report card showed improvement. His teacher liked having him in class and he was kind to the other kids. What more could a parent ask for?
We are very proud of him and pray he continues on the path he's on. He's a great kid and we are blessed to call him our son!!
